|
No electronic devices are allowed during or after school
(exception: MP3 players may be used after school)
- Students using the Library must be respectful of other students’ right to work in a quiet and orderly environment.
- Come prepared to work
- No gum, candy, food, or drink allowed in the Library or computer labs
- DO NOT use the Library as a short cut
Failure to respect Library rules will result in dismissal from the Library and possible disciplinary action.

Passes
|
Before school: No pass required
During the school day:
- Students must have an official pass with a legible signature from their teacher
- Students must present their pass to the Library staff at the Circulation Desk as soon as they arrive
- Students must sign the “Library Sign In Sheet.”
- Before leaving, students must sign out and have their pass signed by a librarian.
- No e-mail, videos, video games, music, or online shopping web sites. Students not doing legitimate school work will be sent back to their teacher
During lunch:
- No pass required, BUT students must sign in
- No e-mail, chat rooms, instant messaging, blogs, etc.
- No videos, video or computer games, music, or online shopping web sites. Students not doing legitimate school work will be asked to leave
- Students must get to class on time after lunch is over. Library staff will NOT issue passes if students are tardy.
- Scheduled classes have priority use of computers in the Library and in the computer labs. Lunch and pass students may be asked to leave
After school:
- Students must have an official pass to enter the Library after 2:15
- Bus passes are issued at 3:20

Circulation
|
- Hylton’s catalog is available on the web. Go to Hylton’s home page, click on “Library” on the left, then click on “Library Catalog.”
- Books may be checked out from the Library for two (2) weeks, with renewal as needed.
- Three (3) items may be checked out at any one time.
- Reference books and magazines may be checked out for overnight use.
- Overdue notices will be sent to students if books are not returned on time.
- Checkout privileges are suspended until overdue books are returned.
- Overdue fines: 10 cents/day. Students must pay for lost books.

Computer Use
|
- Scheduled classes have priority use of computers in the Library and in the computer labs. Lunch and pass students may be asked to leave.
- Individual computer use is on a first-come-first-served basis
- Computer use is limited to instructional programs only
- Loading personal software on computers is expressly forbidden
- No e-mail, chat rooms, instant messaging, journals, blogs, etc.
- No videos, video or computer games, music, or online shopping web sites. Students not doing legitimate school work will be sent back to their class, or asked to leave.

- Over 11,000 books for research and checkout
- Current and back issues of magazines available to read and check out
- Computers available for word processing and other projects
- Use of Internet for research; subscription databases available (see below)
- Scanner – ask Library staff
- Copy machine: 05 cents/page (black & white)
- Computer printouts:
- 10 cents/page for black & white
- 25 cents/page for color
